LifeSprings Dance Ministry

Rachelle Couchman, Director
LifeSprings’ Dance Ministry uses the performing art of dance to glorify God, edify believers and evangelize the lost. We minister with the worship team to help bring the church body into God’s presence, and to sustain the anointing in worship services.
.: About Rachelle :.
Rachelle Couchman was born in Galveston, Texas in 1976. Although her family moved often, she finally put down roots in the Leander/Cedar Park area in 1989. As a high school youth, Rachelle gave her heart and life to the Lord. She was invited to attend LifeSprings Christian Church (LSCC) by a fellow student from her high school. It was then (in 1992) that she decided to stay! Alan Couchman, the student who invited her to church, became her high school sweetheart and eventually her husband. They’ve been happily married ever since. Rachelle home-schools their beautiful children, Seth, Cayden, Eliana and Charlotte.
Rachelle has extensive experience in ministry. She worked in youth ministry for over six years and served three years as Youth Pastor. She became an ordained minister through LifeSprings and Kingdom Expansion Ministries and is also a member of the LifeSprings Healing Ministry. She is presently an active member of The Rampart Drama Company and for four years, a member of the One Accord Christian Community Dance Group. She has over 10 years of dance experience and has over four years of Christian sacred dance training.
Rachelle believes that she has been able to grow and be transformed through great mentoring and Pastoral leadership at LifeSprings. Rachelle says, "God has provided me with biblical and technical training in the area of dance. All the while the vision and mission of LSCC has taken seed and has grown in my heart. It is an honor to serve in the very church that took me in as a youth, gave me direction, corrected me in Christ, and nurtured the gifts that were in me. I have been armed with great truths to do the things that God has called me to do in the area of dance. I am happy to live the abundant life that Christ came to give me!" (John 10:10).: Dancing in the Church :.

When God's people dance before him, it is a glorious declaration of God's goodness and worth! Dancers worship God with their whole bodies, a living sacrifice and a spiritual act of worship. Dancing is a unique expression of praise that ushers the congregation into the presence of God. Dancers use their countenance, flags, banners, and dance garments to proclaim the message of the Gospel. While dancing adds depth and color to a service, the goal is to glorify God and minister to the congregation - not to entertain.
.: Dancing in the Bible :.

God asks us to praise him with dancing (Psa 149:3, 150:4). In the Bible are dances of deliverance, feasts, war, victory, dedications, praise, and worship. Dancers leaped, twirled, stamped, and skipped! They danced with instruments and without, with props and without. They danced in special garments, and even in their underwear! Never do we find dancers in the Bible simply going through the motions - they danced with joy, sympathy, reverence, adoration, passion, and with all their might! Of 108 times the word "worship" appears in the King James Version of the Bible, 97 times the word translated as "worship" refers to a physical movement! (Please also see Exo 15:30; Psa 29:6, 20:5; 2 Sam 6:16; Luk 6:23; 1 Sam 21:11; Ecc 3:4; Jer 31:13)
.: Can Anyone Dance? :.

Yes! At LifeSprings, the whole congregation is welcome to worship the Lord with dancing during our corporate worship services. In addition adults and youth (6th - 12th grade) may choose to join the Dance Ministry, to learn the art of sacred dance and further develop their gifts and talents. LifeSprings Dance team ministers before their home congregation, as well as at various outreaches and workshops. We also provide two opportunities every year for children to minister through dance. Our children learn not only movements, but the Scriptural foundations of dance.
.: How do I Join? :.

LifeSprings Dance Ministry accepts applications for new members during the month of April each year. Dancers should be able to commit to attending practices and ministry events for one year. They should possess some natural aptitude for rhythm and movement.
